what is gelato?
“Gelato” is the Italian word for ice cream, but the Italian counterpart is different from the American version making them two different products.
what is the difference between gelato and ice cream?
Though “Gelato” is the Italian word for ice cream there are considerable differences between the two. The primary difference between gelato and ice cream can be found in the ingredients and process involved with making both.
ingredients
For example, ice cream is made with more cream than milk whereas gelato is made with more milk than cream. Ice cream also uses eggs while gelato only uses egg yolks when the flavor requires it.
making process
To make gelato and ice cream you must churn the ingredients and moderate air intake. Typically, ice cream is made by churning faster than gelato forcibly inserting more air into the final product.
On the other hand, gelato is made by churning slowly and adding just the right quantity of air in a natural manner making it dense and enhancing its flavor.
temperature and flavor
Gelato’s serving temperature goes from 7 to 12 °F (-11 to -14 °C), while ice cream is served from 0 to -4 °F (-18 to -20°C). Being that ice cream is served at a lower temperature your tongue may not perceive all its flavor because of the numbness from the cold, whereas you can distinctively taste gelato’s true and intense flavor without getting brain freeze.

As far as desserts go, gelato is one of the healthiest options. Typically gelato has fewer calories, sugar and fat than regular ice cream. So if you are looking for a healthy dessert option go with gelato.
Since gelato is dense and rich in flavor, a small portion can satiate your hunger far more than any other dessert, while also making you feel not as guilty.

what is the difference between gelato and sorbet?
Main difference is Gelato is milk based, either cow or plant based milk. It also contains cream and sometimes egg yolks.
Sorbet is water based. The only ingredients used to make sorbet are water, sugar and fruit.
how are the ingredients chosen?
Every single ingredient present in our recipes was chosen after careful research and analysis, and it’s used because we decided that it was really genuine and necessary. We have no ingredients decided or imposed by some industry, we are totally independent in our choices.
We are absolutely against the use of products containing alginates, carraghenates, mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids and vegetable fats (especially hydrogenated, coconut oil and palm oil) except cocoa butter, which is an ingredient of chocolate, and we don’t alter the taste or appearance of gelato using artificial flavors or food colorants.
which gelato flavors are gluten-free?
All our gelato and sorbet flavors are gluten-free. We are a 100% dedicated gluten-free shop, there are no ingredients that contain gluten in our recipes.
Even the waffle cones are gluten-free, and also dairy-free and vegan.
is there a risk of gluten contamination?
The flours used for our pastries and waffle cones are completely gluten-free mixes, and we only use these at our kitchen.
do you have dairy-free and vegan gelato?
Yes! All of our fruit flavors are sorbets, so they’re water based, no dairy products.
Chocolate is almost always dairy-free and vegan, and we keep working on new recipes: now we also have a dairy-free and vegan version of the pistachio, hazelnut, black sesame , chai latte, matcha, cookies ‘n cream, and more coming!
